January 19th, 2018

It is a pleasure for Steinbeis India to announce the commencement of the Waste-to-Energy project at Bengaluru. Our client Nexus Novus is making the first application of a unique, Patented Pyro-Gasification Technology from Switzerland, in India. This is something which we helped deliver to them. On Friday, 19th January, Nexus Novus, and its CEO Mr. Rutger De Bruijn set the foundation stone for their large plant of capacity 600 Tonnes Per Day at Bagalur village, just outside Bengaluru. This was done in the presence of Hon. Minister for Bengaluru Development and Town Planning, Shri KJ George and Karnataka Energy Minster Shri DK Shivakumar.

Bengaluru (Bangalore) is the IT hub of India and the fastest growing city in South India. It has a pleasant environment with extensive lakes, high density of trees and a mild climate year round which have been partially responsible for this. However, the burgeoning economy and population has had an unpleasant spin-off. This is an exponential increase in Waste Generation. To avert environmental destruction and a public health crisis, the government recognized the importance of Waste to Energy and Mr. De Bruijn took up the opportunity. He had also recognized the value and high efficiency of the unique Swiss Pyro- Gasification Technology.

Steinbeis India is the recognised party to promote this unique Waste to Energy Technology in India. Although it is available only at a premium as compared to incineration technology, this process retrieves energy and recyclable materials much better and is immune to any future tightening of pollution control rules. This plant is set to become the showcase of a global best practice being applied to the unique waste composition of India. It also sets an example of a clean form of Waste-to-Energy in the vast Waste Management market of India.
